The Steel Bridge Competition is designed to give students experience in several facets of Civil Engineering.  The teams will learn how to design, fabricate, and plan the construction of a steel bridge per the 2006 ASCE standard rules.  On the day of the competition, students will race against the participating teams to construct their pre-fabricated design.  This competition demands organization and teamwork of the participants.  Once the bridges are completed, they are then tested under vertical and lateral loads for strength, sway, and deflection.  Each bridge is judged on aesthetics, construction speed and time penalties, construction economy, lightness and weight penalties, stiffness, structural efficiency, and overall performance.  Join us in the Steel Bridge Competition to build the bridges to our futures.
